About Me

Hi, I’m Kate Webster - Founder and Chief Problem Solver at KLIW Consulting.

For over 25 years, I’ve worked with startups, small businesses and nonprofit organizations across a vast number of industries, all over the world.

I’ve lived the chaos that comes with working in these environments - the high expectations, the lack of structure, too much admin and not enough time. I’ve seen countless leaders try to successfully juggle multiple priorities while still trying to achieve some sort of life outside of work.

I’ve witnessed this struggle in every industry and all over the world.

In fact, my experience is so diverse that in the past, I’ve been told - many times - that my experience is too vast. That my knowledge is too broad. That to be successful, I had to find the single thread that runs through all my varied background and to hone in on that - choose one thing, become a specialist.

But that’s never appealed to me - because I like wearing many hats and I am actually very good at juggling.

And I believe the ability to find truly innovative solutions comes when different ideas bump into each other and collide to make something new. Or when ideas jump across an imaginary barrier into a new context.

That’s when I realized that my large and diverse set of experiences is actually my superpower.

You see, I’ve always been very curious and inquisitive, always asking ‘why.’ Even as a child, I wanted to know how the world worked, to understand the reasons why people made particular decisions and to learn the formulas that created a better functioning existence.

So I explored a lot, in both work and play, and that led me to opportunities in industries as far apart as tech, agriculture, health care, education, social development and marketing, and in countries as diverse as Canada, Switzerland, Cambodia, the United Kingdom, India and Tanzania.

At the heart of all my experiences, regardless of where I worked or what I was doing, was a desire to find solutions. Time and again, I’d not only solve problems that my employers were struggling with, I’d root out and fix others they didn’t even know they had, making the entire organization run better.

I’ve done this with all kinds of teams - big agencies, ambitious startups, small businesses, and nonprofits of all sizes.

I’ve designed onboarding and training programs that have been hailed as ‘the best we’ve ever had’. I’ve developed and launched community events and programs from scratch, maxing out registration targets. I’ve produced print resources and documentation to reduce administrative burden. I’ve introduced new productivity tools and software to better manage capacity and improve work-life balance. I’ve attained record client-retention, achieved industry-exceeding social engagement and email open rates, uncovered fundraising success factors and helped countless businesses achieve sales.

With KLIW Consulting, I want to help even more teams have the support they need to be successful.

I help organizations figure out what’s working, what’s not, and what could be better - whether that’s how teams are supported, how systems are set up, or how your story is shared. I’m here to bring clarity, fresh ideas, and structure to what can sometimes feel a bit messy.

This isn’t about flashy fixes or complicated strategies. I listen, I ask questions, and then I roll up my sleeves and work with you to make things easier. I even show you how to keep it going long after we’re done working together.

Take a look through my website and if something resonates, I’d love to chat with you about it.

Reach out whichever way suits you best and I’ll do all the heavy lifting to get in touch with you.

Thanks for being a part of my story by showing up here. I hope that one day, I’ll get to be a part of yours too.

Land Acknowledgement

KLIW Consulting, currently based in Halifax, Canada, acknowledges that we inhabit Mi’kma’ki, the unceded and ancestral territory of the Mi’kmaw people. Unceded means that the Mi’kmaq have never relinquished, sold, traded, or transferred ownership of their land to European settler colonies, yet land was taken over without their consent through various processes of settler colonialism. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship, which the Mi’kmaq and Wolastoqiyik people first signed with the British Crown in 1726. Each of these Treaties did not involve the surrendering of rights to the lands and resources they had traditionally used and occupied.
